PROJECT NAME

Office Art Installation

The Dallas Jewish Communities Foundation sources and disburses endowments to 100s of organizations. Several custom pieces were made to embellish their new corporate office space.

The first piece greets visitors as they enter. This display is based on the Jewish tradition of lighting a candle in the synagogue during the month that a loved one has past.  A traditional Jewish story about Honi, a man who plants a tree, not for himself but for future generations, mirrors that of those who have endowed through DJCF. The creation consists of a live edge maple slab married to a contemporary black metal box, onto which the legend is printed. A window reveals an LED display which displays names of donors during a specific month. A custom-made Byzantine era clay lamp rests on a shelf made of the same maple.

As one walks down the hall to the offices and conference room they read the names of the recipient organizations to whom donations have been made. These etched glass panels are floated off the wall with stainless steel stand-offs.

Additonal installations included a wall mural in the conference room, a custom painting featuring the origin of the Jewish star of David. Opposing this wall is a bronze display featuring the board of directors. Many other elements were created for this client, including a fairwell gift to one of the directors, which mimicked the lobby display.
